Getting Here

Getting Here

FROM INTERNATIONAL AND NATIONAL LOCATIONS

The easiest access to Smithers is through the Vancouver International Airport.  In just under 2 hours Air Canada brings you directly to Smithers, where the Skeena Cat Skiing team will pick you up and deliver you to either the Suskwa Lodge or the Backcountry base camp. NO car rentals, no driving on winter roads and it’s easier on the environment too!

Skeena Cat Skiing packages begin the evening before your first cat skiing day.  Air Canada flies out of most major US cities so you can book directly to Smithers, B.C.

Arrival flight: AC Flight #8564, departing Vancouver at 17:55 (5:55pm) and arriving in Smithers at 19:46 (7:46pm)

Departure flight:  AC Flight #8565, departing Smithers at 20:10 (8:10pm) and arriving in Vaancouver at 21:53 (9:53pm)

FROM KAMLOOPS, KELOWNA, FORT ST. JOHN AND FORT NELSON

Central Mountain Air offers flights to Smithers via Prince George.

FROM EDMONTON OR CALGARY

Unfortunately, no airlines fly to Smithers from Edmonton or Calgary.  WestJet flies to Terrace, where you would need to rent a vehicle and drive to Skeena Cat Skiing.  Terrace airport to Skeena Cat Skiing is approximately a 2 hour drive.

FROM HAIDA GWAII, ALASKA, PRINCE RUPERT, TERRACE, KITIMAT

If you are coming from Haida Gwaii or Alaska into the Prince Rupert Port or from Terrace or Kitimat, follow Hwy. #16 East. The Suskwa Forest Service Road leaves Highway #16 (left) ten minutes after you drive through New Hazelton. Once you go over the bridge the Suskwa Forest Service Road is about 100 metres on the left. This is an awkward place to turn off the highway so be extremely careful. Follow the road for 5 km, then turn right and travel for approximately 1 km…and you are at the lodge!

FROM SMITHERS AND POINTS EAST

From Smithers follow Hwy. #16 (northwest) for approximately 20 minutes…proceed through Moricetown.  Continue travelling about 10 minutes…the highway goes back down to the river.  At the end of the next straight is a hill going to the right.  Look for the signs.  Turn right onto the Suskwa Forest Service Road three quarters the way up the hill…right at the end of the two lane.  Travel down the Suskwa Forest Service Road for 5 kilometers, turn right at the telephone booth, onto the Moricetown Forest Service Road.  The Suskwa Lodge is the first driveway on the left and clearly marked.

PUT A CREW TOGETHER AND RENT A PASSENGER VAN

"Felt right at home! You have a great thing going on here...well worth the drive, thank you again for the great hospitality"...Calgary

Hertz Rent a Car has awesome deals on 7 passenger mini vans and 8 passenger larger vehicles, like Yukons or Suburbans.  I've crunched the numbers and from Edmonton or Calgary,  it would cost each passenger approximately $250.00 each, including fuel and mileage...NOW THAT'S SOMETHING WORTH LOOKING INTO!

For larger groups, Budget Rentals has 14 passenger vans for approximately the same price.
